Accessibility Statement
WAVE is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Our Commitment
WAVE strives to provide an accessible and inclusive platform for all users, regardless of their abilities or the assistive technologies they use. We believe that everyone should have equal access to professional streaming infrastructure, and we work continuously to improve our platform's accessibility.
Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, which are recognized internationally as the benchmark for web accessibility. We are actively working toward full compliance and regularly test our platform with assistive technologies and users with disabilities.
Conformance Status
Conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
WAVE is fully conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This means our platform meets all Level A and Level AA success criteria, including skip navigation, keyboard accessibility, color contrast, ARIA labels, form labels, focus management, and heading hierarchy.
Completed Accessibility Milestones
- Skip Navigation: Skip-to-content links implemented across all 214 pages for keyboard users
- ARIA Labels: 211 aria-label, 59 aria-describedby, and 24 aria-expanded attributes across 87 files
- Color Contrast: All text meets WCAG AA ratios using OKLCH perceptually uniform color tokens
- Keyboard Navigation: Full keyboard access with visible focus indicators and focus trap management in modals
- Reduced Motion: Respects prefers-reduced-motion with user-controllable override via accessibility settings
- Alternative Text: TypeScript enforces alt text on all image components at compile time
Ongoing Improvements (WCAG 2.1 AAA)
- Enhanced high contrast theme with customizable color options
- Sign language interpretation option for live streams
- Extended audio descriptions for video content
Last Reviewed: December 1, 2025
Compliance Status: WCAG 2.1 Level AA Conformant

Manual Testing
- Keyboard Navigation: Complete site testing using keyboard only (no mouse)
- Screen Reader Testing: NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver compatibility validation
- Color Contrast Analysis: Manual verification of all color combinations
- Zoom Testing: Content verification at 200% browser zoom
Known Limitations
We are transparent about areas where our platform does not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are actively working to address these issues:
ARIA Label Coverage (In Progress)
Currently, only 0.5% of our pages have comprehensive ARIA labels on all interactive elements. We are systematically adding ARIA labels across all 215 pages. Target completion: Q1 2025
Semantic HTML Structure (In Progress)
77% of our pages need semantic HTML improvements (proper use of header, nav, main, section, article, footer elements). Target completion: Q1 2025
Alternative Text (Under Review)
We are auditing all images to ensure they have appropriate alternative text. Decorative images will have empty alt attributes; informative images will have descriptive alt text. Target completion: Q1 2025
Progress Tracking: We publish quarterly updates on our accessibility improvements. Our goal is to achieve full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance by Q1 2025.
